  4. The cards with number 2 to 10 are worth as same as their value, the Jacks, Kings, and Queens are worth 10 and Aces are worth 1 or 11.

  5. There are lots of misunderstanding in winning the game. Most players think that the only way to win the game is to get a total of 21 points. But there are other ways to win:

  6. Win by natural blackjack or getting two cards that are worth 21 points

  7. Reach a final score higher than the dealer but without exceeding 21 points.

  8. Allowing the dealer to draw additional cards until such time that the hand exceeds 21.

  • Double Down - This allows you to double your wager on your first two cards and receive only one more to improve your hand.

  • Split - If your first two cards are pairs, you may split them and play two hands by placing a second bet equal to your first on the table.

Tips and Tricks That You Need to Learn

Blackjack is not quite a tricky game. You just need to somehow learn some good strategies and a magic trick in order for you to win.

  1. Playing Blackjack in an online casino is great. However, if you really want to practice playing the game, playing with a real dealer is more recommended.

  2. If the dealer gets an Ace on the first card, that will be a good sign for him but if the dealers get 5 or 6 that will be the worst card.

  3. When dealing a card and you get two 10s, never split them into two.

  4. Only surrender if you get a total value of 16 and you are against the dealer’s 9, 10, or an ace value.

  5. If your hand total is 10 or 11, the bet will commonly be doubled.

  6. Always know the Blackjack rule especially the variants in the casino you’re playing as it might be slightly different.

  7. Learn the hand signals. It will help you a lot in the game.

  8. Do not bet using cash. Though some casinos still accept cash, most casinos don’t. They accept chips instead of cash so don’t forget to exchange your cash.

  9. Avoid sitting at the end of the betting table from your left. This is called, "third base" and the player here is the last to play before the dealer.

  10. If you can, study the game while playing. This can help you create a strategy to win.

  11. Once you made a bet, keep your hands off the chips in the betting box until the hand is over.

  12. Do not ever increase your bet when you are losing already, there is a possibility that you will lose more.

Blackjack Rule Variations

Blackjack rules are not created the same. The rules may vary from casino to casino and the variant’s rules might be different as well and it affects how the game is played. Here are some of the rules that can affect the odds and probability of the game.

  • Doubling After Splitting (DAS): This allows you to double down on a hand you just split. Though most casino allows this, some don’t. This is a sure advantage to the player.

  • Re-Splitting Aces (RSA): Some casino doesn’t allow this rule as well as it is a total advantage to the player. Getting an Ace is definitely powerful, and an advantage already and this rule will allow you to split an ace again even you’ve already split. You can’t double after splitting an ace, and you can’t take additional cards.

  • Early Surrender: This is not commonly used now but basically, it is the same as “surrender” rule only you can surrender before the dealer checks for blackjack or offers insurance.

  • Late Surrender - the counterpart of Early surrender is mostly found than Early surrender. It allows the player to give up half the bet rather than playing the hand after the dealer checks for blackjack. This means you don’t lose all your bets found only the half.

  • Double-downs limited to hard 11 and hard 10: Some casinos do not allow the player to double on a total value of less than 10 or on soft hands.

  • Dealer hits soft 17: The dealer hits hands including an ace or aces that can be totaled as either 7 or 17, instead of standing on all 17.

  • 6 to 5 Blackjacks: If the casino you’re playing with only offers 6-5 payout, that means they are taking more money out of people’s pocket. Some casinos that offer blackjack will reduce the 3 to 2 payouts for Blackjacks down to only 6 to 5 means lesser payout for the players.

Blackjack is indeed an easy game to learn and understand. The objectives of the game are very simple. However, in order to take advantage of the game, you must know the basics of it and as much as possible know the advance terms and strategies so you can increase your chances of winning. Always know the version of Blackjack you’re playing, so you can properly think of a good technique on how to win the game.
